Woolpit Neighbourhood Plan One Year In
1 February 2017
Although things have been fairly quiet over the Christmas break - no news on the planning front - the Neighbourhood Plan continues to progress. Much of the initial phase of community consultation and evidence gathering has been completed; there are two new reports for you to read, recently completed by the working groups for landscape character appraisal and community consultation. A third report - a community profile - has been commissioned from Community Action Suffolk, which will present statistical data in a useful and digestible way.
The Steering Group has discussed the forthcoming residents' questionnaire, and a working group has been formed to hammer out the details. We hope to carry out this survey in the early spring.
A meeting in January with Carroll Reeve, from the Lavenham neighbourhood planning group, was extremely helpful, and we hope to learn from their experience. Lavenham's plan received the official seal of approval following a referendum last autumn, and they now have much more influence over planning and development in their community. Woolpit resembles Lavenham in many ways, so it is a good model for us.
Due to pressure of work, Trevor Howard has stepped down from chairing the Steering Group, but he remains a member. Richard Mawhood has taken up the reins, and Caroline Blomfield is the new vice-chair.
